An Post ignores strike threat
Postal services across the country are likely to be hit by industrial action from tomorrow morning following An Post's decision not to reinstate 68 workers it suspended earlier this week.
The workers were suspended on Monday for refusing to co-operate with arrangements to integrate the SDS parcel delivery service into An Post's regular business.
The Communications Worker Union accused the company of seeking to implement the closure without reaching agreement on the matter with staff representatives.
It had given An Post until noon today to reinstate the suspended workers, but the company ignored the threat and an escalating programme of industrial action is now expected to get underway from tomorrow.
The CWU said the form of industrial action had yet to be finalised, but it was likely to disrupt postal deliveries throughout the country.
