Ahern meets Sinn Féin for crunch talks
An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will come face to face with Sinn Féin leaders in Dublin today for the first time since he accused them of knowing about the £26.5m (€38m) Northern Bank robbery that he blamed on the IRA.
A government source said ahead of the crunch meeting: “A lot of tough talking will be done. Trust has been shattered since the Northern Bank job and a lot of questions need to be answered.”
