HSA demands risk assessment of all A&E units

The Health and Safety Authority has reportedly demanded that all Irish hospitals carry out urgent inspections of their accident and emergency units and take immediate steps to address any deficiencies.

Reports this morning said the authority issued the demand in response to claims by consultants that overcrowding in A&E departments posed a serious risk to patients' health.
