Gardaí have appealed to anyone who saw Aidan O’Donoghue before his disappearance to come forward.

The 27-year-old’s body was recovered from a Co Clare river tonight. A garda spokesman confirmed there was “nothing untoward” in the incident.

Mr O’Donoghue was last seen alive during the early hours of last Sunday, January 9.

Gardaí said that he went to a disco on Abbey Street in Ennis, Co Clare on Saturday night. He was last seen at 1am the following morning wearing dark blue jeans and a blue long sleeved shirt.

Mr O’Donoghue’s sister, Caroline, had appealed for several people seen talking to him that morning on CCTV footage town to come forward.

He was described as being 5ft 5in tall, of stocky build and with short brown hair.

Gardaí are still awaiting the results of the post mortem which will be carried out at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick tomorrow.
