FG criticises Govt's handling of EU nitrate directive

Fine Gael has criticised the Government's handling of the implementation of an EU directive aimed at reducing the use of nitrates as fertiliser on farmland.

The European Commission recently rejected the Government's request for a derogation from the 170kg per hectare limit contained in the directive.
