Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will contest one more general election before stepping down, he confirmed today.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will contest one more general election before stepping down, he confirmed today.

Mr Ahern said he planned to lead his Fianna Fáil party into a third poll in the summer of 2007 before stepping down in 2011 when he reached the age of 60.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
