Hopes once and for a political settlement in Northern Ireland could suffer a shattering blow as the IRA is set to be linked to a massive bank robbery.

Even though Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams claimed the Provisionals were not involved in the Northern Bank raid in Belfast, PSNI chief constable Hugh Orde is expected to confirm a republican connection to the robbery when he meets senior members of the Northern Ireland Policing Board tomorrow.
