Govt defends relaxation of superstore planning rules
The Government tonight denied that lifting its cap on retail superstores will create ghost towns and cause traffic chaos around Ireland.
Environment Minister Dick Roche won Cabinet approval today for specific plans to scrap the 6,000-square-metre size limit on out-of-town developments by non-food retailers.
