Search for missing climber called off
Kerry Mountain Rescue has called off its search for a 22-year-old Swedish man who has been missing in the MacGillicuddy Reeks for a week.
Olaf Jansenn has not been seen since setting out on a trek in the mountain range last Tuesday. His family flew into Ireland last night and are due to meet with members of the rescue team later today.
Spokesman Christie McCarthy said every effort was made to find the young man.
"We had about 180 [people], the coastguard helicopters, search dogs from Northern Ireland, from Wales, most rescue teams from Ireland attended and, of course, all the locals," he said.
"We gave four full days searching and we found nothing."
