Almost 900 people have been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving as part of a road safety crackdown over the past three weeks, according to figures released by the gardaí today.

Almost 900 people have been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving as part of a road safety crackdown over the past three weeks, according to figures released by the gardaí today.

The Gardai said they had arrested 885 suspected drink-drivers in the first three weeks of their annual Christmas crackdown, an increase of 13% on the figures for the same period last year.
