Gardaí and the PSNI have carried out a number of searches on both sides of the border today as part of an investigation into illegal dumping and organised crime.

At least 28 premises have been searched on both sides of the border and in Britain as part of the operation.

The target of the raids is believed to be a Northern-based gang involved in illegal dumping, money-laundering and the theft of plant and agricultural machinery.

No arrests have been made.
