Sixty-one thousand houses and apartments were built in Ireland in the first 10 months of this year, according to figures released today by the Department of Environment.

Sixty-one thousand houses and apartments were built in Ireland in the first 10 months of this year, according to figures released today by the Department of Environment.

The department said the figure represented a 13% increase over the same period last year and showed that 2004 was on course to become the 10th successive year of record house completions.
