Train hits man

Rail services in north Dublin were temporarily disrupted this morning due to an accident on the tracks at Howth Junction.

Emergency services are treating a man at a Dublin railway line after he was struck by a passenger train today.

The man, who was seriously injured, was hit between Howth Junction and Kilbarrack station by the 7.35am Dublin to Belfast train.

It is understood he may have lost part of his foot.

Services between Harmonstown, Malahide and Howth in the Dublin area have been halted.

A spokesman for Iarnroid Eireann said it was hoped that the commuter trains and Dart would be running again before 9am.
