Labour criticises IFSRA report
The Labour Party has criticised the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority's failure to identify those responsible for the overcharging scandal at AIB.
In its final report into the matter, published today, the regulator said "certain staff and managers" had failed to identify and disclose the overcharging, despite having numerous opportunities to do so.
Labour spokeswoman Joan Burton said: "The report doesn't identify what jobs they had, doesn't identify them by name and it doesn't say what, if any, action will be taken against them.
"I think the report overall is a disappointing one bearing in mind that the issues involved were brought to light by a whistle-blower from within the ranks of AIB and not found either by auditor or by the financial services regulator themselves."
