Archbishop admits to not thinking about disabled access
The Catholic Archbishop of Dublin Dr Diarmuid Martin apologised today for not attending to the needs of people with disabilities.
Dr Martin said that issues to do with access and participation in the Church never even crossed the minds of authorities.
An audit of every parish in the Dublin Diocese is to be carried out by Crosscare, the Catholic Church’s social aid agency.
Archbishop Martin is promising that issues such as a shortage of ramps or holy water fonts that are too high for wheelchair users will be improved.
