The Irish UN worker released by kidnappers in Afghanistan said she and her two colleagues were sustained through 27 days of captivity by thoughts of their family and friends.

Looking tired but happy a day after their release, Annetta Flanigan from Co Armagh, Northern Ireland, Philippine diplomat Angelito Nayan, and Shqipe Hebibi of Kosovo met Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
