David Trimble’s Ulster Unionist and Ian Paisley’s Democratic Unionists should put their differences aside and form a Westminster coalition, it was claimed tonight.

Ulster Unionist MP David Burnside said on the eve of his party’s annual conference in Newcastle, Co Down, that both parties needed to say to the SDLP and cross-community Alliance Party that they would form a voluntary coalition at Stormont and would exclude Sinn Féin from government.
