Ahern announces €16m investment at teaching college
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has announced a capital investment of €16m in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.
"I am pleased to announce that the Minister for Education and Science will be giving immediate approval to Mary Immaculate College to proceed to tender on the multi-purpose teaching hall and the associated infrastructure works," he said.
"This will involve an immediate investment by the Government of €16m in the college facilities."
The Taoiseach said that this funding was being allocated as the Government has decided to implement the Kelly Report on the capital needs of the third level sector.
Mr Ahern said the multi-purpose teaching hall would make a significant contribution to campus life and enhancing teacher-training facilities at Mary Immaculate College.
