Almost a quarter of a million Irish adults intend to complete a third level course in the coming years.

A study by the National College of Ireland has also shown that the major obstacle for adults returning to education is fees.

It has also emerged from the survey that over 80% of adults who have taken a part-time third level course in the past few years come from a working class background.
