Sinn Féin TD Arthur Morgan has hinted that there may be a breakthrough in the Irish peace process in the coming days.

Speaking at a meeting of the British-Irish Inter-parliamentary Body in Wales today, Mr Morgan said: "I hope that in the next days we will be in a position to welcome a breakthrough in the situation in Ireland."

The North's political institutions remain suspended because of the failure of Sinn Féin and the DUP to reach a deal on power sharing.

The DUP has refused to budge in its demands for changes to the Good Friday Agreement that Sinn Féin and the SDLP believe would lead to a return to unionist majority rule.
