FG challenges McDowell on Garda radio system

The Fine Gael spokesperson on justice Jim O'Keefe is calling on Minister for Justice Michael McDowell to explain why some gardaí are being forced to use their personal mobile phones to carry out their daily duties.

The call comes after a senior garda claimed this morning that his colleagues are often forced to use their own phones to report crime because the radio system is unreliable.

O' Keefe says shoddy Garda communications could have serious implications for local and national security.
