Morris denies wrongdoing over legal representation
Judge Frederick Morris, chair of the inquiry into Garda corruption in Donegal, today denied he had gone behind the backs of witnesses to secure legal representation for them.
Mr Justice Morris was responding to reports he had approached senior lawyers to work on behalf of the McBrearty family.
The Donegal family, who are key witnesses to the inquiry, have consistently claimed they are near financial ruin due to the spiralling cost of hiring solicitors and barristers.
Judge Morris said it simply was not the case that other lawyers would not represent the family at the inquiry.
Frank McBrearty junior submitted a series of questions and demanded an adjournment of the inquiry over claims that Judge Morris had asked barristers to represent the family on a rotation basis at the Tribunal.
