Greens criticise Govt on drink advertising

The Green Party has claimed the Government has failed to crack down on the marketing of alcohol to Irish teenagers.

Party leader Trevor Sergeant said alcohol advertisements were frequently broadcast during films with 15PG ratings and described such marketing as "scandalous".

His comments came during a Dáil debate on changes to the law to allow underage alcohol-free discos to take place in licensed premises, as long as the bar area is closed.
