FG want plutonium shipment kept out of Irish waters
The Government has been urged to keep a shipment of weapons-grade plutonium out of Irish waters.
Material from old nuclear warheads is being transported across the Atlantic from the US for use in French power stations.
Labour spokesman Emmet Stagg has said the Department of the Environment is not doing enough to ensure we are not at risk.
“The Government as usual are very late in the day making soft calls on the matter. We should be taking action through the International Maritime Organisation and also through the International Atomic Energy Agency,” he said.
