State agency CEOs concerned about effects of decentralisation

The Association of Chief Executives of State Agencies has expressed concern about how the Government’s decentralisation plans will affect its members.

In a submission to the Oireachtas committee on finance and public service today, the association said its members were seriously concerned about the continuity of their duties in light of the decentralisation plan.

Spokesperson Ruth Barrington told the committee: “The principle concern of chief executives whose agencies are to relocate from Dublin is that we should be able to continue to carry out the functions for which our boards were established.

“In this context, the retention of staff with specialised knowledge, qualification and expertise is of utmost importance.”
