FF, PDs and FG back McAleese’s re-election campaign

Fianna Fáil, the Progressive Democrats and Fine Gael have all come out in support of President Mary McAleese’s campaign for a second seven-year term as President of Ireland.

Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern said Mrs McAleese’s campaign had the full backing of Fianna Fáil, even though she has decided to nominate herself rather than seek the party’s official backing.
