Aer Lingus chief executive Willie Walsh is due to meet representatives of the airline’s workforce this morning to discuss plans to lay off 1,325 employees as part of a cost-cutting drive.

Mr Walsh agreed to the meeting yesterday after SIPTU threatened to cause disruption at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports this Saturday in protest at the handling of the lay-offs.
