An Post seeking seven-cent rise in stamp price

The Communications Regulator has confirmed that An Post is seeking to increase the price of a basic postage stamp from 48 cent to 53 cent.

The company is seeking the increase in an effort to reverse years of financial losses.

An Post reported a €43m loss for 2003, its third consecutive annual loss.

ComReg is due to make a decision on the request for a price increase in the coming weeks.
