Two hospitals supplied pituitary glands - NEHB
The North Eastern Health Board has confirmed that two of its hospitals supplied pituitary glands from deceased children to a pharmaceutical firm.
The Board has said that the Louth County Hospital in Dundalk and Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan supplied glands for the manufacture of human growth hormones.
It has said Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda also retained glands but they were never supplied to a pharmaceutical firm.
It brings to 17 the number of hospitals that were involved in the practice.
