Fee-paying schools thrive as free schools slide

Secondary schools around the country are suffering huge declines in enrolment, because of the boom in fee-paying private schools.

Official figures show there are 20,000 vacant places in free education schools in Dublin, while private schools are turning applicants away in record numbers.
