Some 800 Irish holidaymakers have been rescued from Florida, which has been battered by its worst hurricane in more than a decade.

Thirteen people have been confirmed dead after the onslought of hurricane Charley, and rescue workers are still searching for survivors.

The US President, George W Bush, is to arrive in the state later today.

Beverley Fly of Tour America says Irish families in holiday resorts have been moved inland and away from any danger.
