Labour slams 'cloak and dagger' deportations
The Labour Party is criticising what it describes as the Government's "cloak-and-dagger" approach to deportation.
It follows concerns that 38-year-old Nigerian woman Nimota Banidele who is facing deportation next week, could be stoned if she is returned to her native country for having three children outside marriage.
The party's spokesperson on justice, Joe Costello, warned that he believes there will be another mass deportation in the next week.
Deputy Costello said that at the moment there were only rumours about what would happen, and that to counteract this, the system should be made more open and transparent so that the public can see what is going on.
