Arrests made after attacks on gardaí
Four gardaí were treated in hospital today and a number of people arrested after a series of attacks across Dublin.
The first attack took place in Summerhill in the north inner city after gardaí were called to a suspected robbery at a Chinese restaurant.
A 33-year-old man armed with a knuckle-duster sprayed three officers and a shop assistant in the face with pepper spray.
The man was arrested and all four were taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.
Later, a local man in his 30s walked into a Garda station in the Shankill area of south Dublin and assaulted a senior officer.
The man attacked a sergeant, biting his face and hand, and was later charged. The officer was treated at Loughlinstown Hospital.
All three officers were released from hospital after treatment.
In Blackrock, a woman armed with a steak knife was arrested after she walked into a Garda station and threatened two officers.
