The owners of London Stansted Airport are to take Ryanair to court over its failure to pay €1.5m worth of landing fees.

It is expected the British Airports Authority will issue a High Court writ against the no-frills airline after it ignored a 4pm deadline.

Ryanair will still be allowed to land at Stansted but special discounts of almost 50%, negotiated by the airline, are in danger.

Ryanair has said it is issuing its own proceedings against BAA for over-charging on fuel levies over a 12-year period.
