Two held over fatal Dublin assault
Two people were being questioned by gardaí today after a man died following an assault in south Dublin.
The 56-year-old homeless victim was attacked near the Simon Community Centre on Island Street before being rushed to Saint James Hospital where he later died.
A 25-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, who are both also understood to be homeless, were detained shortly after the attack, which occurred around midnight.
A Garda spokesman said the two were being detained at Kevin St Garda Station under the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
