Ahern applauded for Commission appearance

Victims groups have applauded the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern for his appearance before the Child Abuse Commission.

Mr Ahern has told the investigation committee that a State apology in 1999 was the only way to proceed once the story of institutionalised abuse began to emerge.
