Rosanna signs official Miss World contract
Miss World Rosanna Davison has signed an official contract with the contest organisers, it was confirmed today.
The daughter of singer Chris de Burgh insisted reports she had undertaken few engagements as Miss World due to contractual difficulties with the competition organisers were completely untrue.
In a statement issued through her solicitors, she said that a contract was not presented to her lawyer by the Miss World Organisation until almost three months after she was crowned in December last year.
“Following extensive negotiations, the contract was finally agreed and signed by both parties in mid-June 2004,” the statement said.
The statement also dismissed reports that the 19-year-old had been advised by her father since her competition win.
“In all legal matters she has been guided and advised by her lawyer and by him alone since August 2003,” the statement said.
“Rosanna and her family are extremely relieved that the contract has eventually been signed, and that the grossly unfair allegations about her role as Miss World can now be shown to be totally unfounded and untrue.
“She will continue to willingly perform her duties as Miss World until she hands over the crown in China on December 4, and is enormously proud to represent Ireland on the global stage.”
