Govt doubles funding limit for Dormant Accounts Board
The Government has doubled the amount of money that the Dormant Accounts Fund Disbursements Boards may spend from €30m to €60m.
The board was set up to distribute money taken from dormant bank accounts to charities and other organisations.
The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Eamon Ó Cuív, said he had decided to double the board’s funding limit because the level of applications for assistance was higher than anticipated and because no funding was approved in 2003.
