NO initiatives to tackle economic and social disadvantage will be paid for by the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs (DCEG) from its dormant account funds, the department confirmed yesterday.

The Government has doubled the amount of money that the Dormant Accounts Fund Disbursements Boards may spend from €30m to €60m.

THE dormant accounts fund has just got a cash boost of €56 million, bringing the total fund for the disadvantaged and people with disabilities to €225m.

The Government has concluded a review of its policy on dormant bank accounts.
