Escaped prisoner killed in motorcycle accident
Gardaí have confirmed that one of the men who died in a collision in Co Wicklow yesterday had escaped from Shelton Abbey open prison in Arklow a short time earlier.
34-year-old John Cunningham from Tallaght had been nearing the end of an 18-month sentence for theft.
He died along with his pillion passenger after their motorbike crashed into a parked bus on the N11 between Arklow and Wicklow town shortly after midnight yesterday.
Meanwhile, Gardaí have named the three Latvian nationals who were killed in an accident in County Donegal yesterday morning.
Maris Valbe, aged 22, Janis Rogis, aged 21, and 19 year old Danis Sters died when their car went off a narrow bridge at Grainne's Gap near Burnfoot.
