Detectives launched a murder inquiry today after a man’s body was discovered in Co Armagh.

The victim was found lying by the roadside at Marlacoo on the main Portadown to Markethill Road shortly before 11am.

Police say they are investigating a link between an incident at Ballyreagh in Richill around 2am in which masked men abducted a man from his home.

It is believed the gang took the man in a green Seat Ibiza.

Detectives are investigating a number of possible motives for the killing but do not believe it was sectarian.

The area where the murder took place is mainly loyalist.

According to sources, the victim was found with a bag over his head.

DUP Assembly member for the area, Paul Berry, said: “This is a very worrying and sinister situation. It must be condemned by all right thinking people.”
