Gardaí arrest two in smuggling crackdown
Gardaí have arrested a man and a woman today during an ongoing crackdown on smuggling and other criminal activities around the border.
The crackdown is a joint operation between the gardaí and PSNI, as well as other agencies from both sides of the border.
Gardaí said a number of premises in north Louth and south Armagh were raided as part of the operation this morning, including farmhouses, out-houses and offices.
The raids were designed to disrupt oil smuggling, racketeering and money laundering activities in the area.
The authorities in the North have apparently discovered three large oil laundering plants as part of the operation.
