Child abuse commission to resume investigations
The Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse has announced its intention to resume its investigations next week.
Commission chairman Justice Sean Ryan said today that all relevant parties were generally supportive of his proposals on how to proceed with the inquiry.
Justice Ryan said the inquiry would begin by hearing evidence about the history of child abuse in state-run institutions.
He said it would then hear evidence from government departments, religious institutions and victims in that order.
Justice Ryan said changes to the law would be necessary to enable the inquiry to follow these procedures.
