The Royal British Legion is holding a commemoration at the War Memorial Gardens in Dublin this morning attended by Irish veterans of the D-Day landings.

The landings took place 60 years ago today on the beaches of Normandy in northern France.

The landings were the single biggest military operation in history and turned the tide in the war against the Nazis.
