Anti-war groups call for anti-invasion vote
Anti-war activists have called on the electorate to vote for candidates and parties opposed to the US/British invasion of Iraq in next week’s local and European elections.
The Stop Bush Campaign, which is organising protests against US President George W Bush’s upcoming visit to Ireland, said voters should use the elections to register their dissatisfaction with Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats over their support for the Iraq war.
Some of the organisations involved in the campaign have registered as third parties under the electoral laws to allow them to erect posters seeking votes for anti-war parties and candidates.
