The Consumers Association of Ireland (CAI) has called for the Revenue Commissioners' investigation into the tax affairs of AIB to be expanded to include an in-depth probe of the DIRT scandal.

The association said many banks helped their customers to evade DIRT by providing them with false overseas addresses.
