Disruption likely as electricians threaten to strike

Major disruption to the construction industry is being threatened after 95% of electricians in the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union voted for strike action today.

The dispute centres on a 1% pay rise due under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness which the union says has not been paid.

Union leaders will meet on Tuesday to decide what type of industrial action to take but a spokesman has said an all-out work stoppage is most likely.
