Two of Ballymun's tower blocks to be demolished this summer

Two of Ballymun's tower blocks could be demolished before the summer is out.

The Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Noel Ahern, says preparations are getting underway for the destruction of the Pearse and McDonagh towers, along with two four-story blocks, by mid-July.

Minister Ahern was in Ballymun at a ceremony to mark the re-housing of 600 families into new homes and said that it was all "part of the master plan for the social, physical and economic regeneration" of the area.
