The Government has announced a funding allocation of almost €37m for the provision of accommodation and other services for homeless people in Dublin.

The Government has announced a funding allocation of almost €37m for the provision of accommodation and other services for homeless people in Dublin.

Junior Minister Noel Ahern said the latest allocations would bring the Government’s total spending on homelessness this year to €51m, a 3.5% increase on the funding for 2003.

The main recipients of the allocations announced today are Focus Ireland (€3.65m), the Salvation Army (€3.1m), the Simon Community (€1.8m), the De Paul Trust (€1.24m) and the Merchant’s Quay project (€925,000).
