Woman dies in Co Galway crash

A 49-year-old woman has died following an accident near Loughrea in Co Galway.

The car the woman was driving was involved in a head-on collision with another car at Ballinamucka, just before midnight.

The woman was taken to University College Hospital, Galway but died en route.

Her passenger, a young man in his 20s, received medical attention for minor injuries.

The man driving the other car was not hurt.

Gardaí at Gort are investigating the incident.
